About me
I am a professional artist, working from my studio at home in Woodmancote, near Bishop's Cleeve, Cheltenham. I am delighted to be a featured Artist on Winsor & Newton's website http://acrylics.winsornewton.com/theartists
where you can see videos and photograhs of me working in my studio.
My next exhibition is in October at the Gardens Gallery in Cheltenham, with three other Artists, Barbara Fletcher, Pam Johns and Carolyn King.
I currently have paintings, prints, cards and my hand made jewellery on sale at ByLocal in the Regent Arcade, Cheltenham, where you can see a huge range of exciting work by 40 different Artists and Craftsmen. The Old Print Gallery in Broadway have a selection of my prints for sale. I have regularly exhibited my work in Cheltenham, Cirencester and at the Bath Open.
Please contact me if you are interested in buying any of the work on show here, or if you would like to discuss a commission.
I have been very busy working on commissions for portraits and abstract work, along with my free flowing "impressionistic style" landscapes and figurative work. I work in various different mediums and tend to experiment with different subjects, so as you can see my work is quite varied. I find painting a huge adventure!
In April 2008 I exhibited at Cheltenham Town Hall, followed by further exhibitions with The Cheltenham Open Houses at the Garden's Gallery, and Trinity Arts. In October 2009 I exhibited at Ingleside House in Cirencester, with a percentage of all sales going to The Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
I am delighted that my work is being so well-received and I am looking forward to the future with great excitement.
I enjoy trips to Scotland, the South West and Wales, where I particularly find inspiration for my landscapes, and for me to be able paint in the open air. I am a Christian and my faith is the foundation of my work, as I feel so inspired by the beauty of God's creations, whether it is a rugged landscape, a breath-taking coastal view, an animal or a human face with all its many wonderful and fascinating variations.
I grew up in Northampton, and was very lucky to study with Melissa Dring, the portrait artist.
Melissa is a member of the elite Pastel society, and is also a forensic artist, working with the police, both in the UK and the United States.
I also studied with Fiona O'Neill, who is an inspirational teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Fiona and I am indebted to her for all she taught me about techniques, different mediums and colour mixing.
